HUNTERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

 

Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Norman, Huntersville is a town  in Northern Mecklenburg County.  

 

The population was 46,773 at the 2010 Census.  The town officially incorporated in 1873.  Oringally named Craighead, some believe it and was re-named after a major landowner and cotton farmer, Robert Boston Hunter.  Others believe the town derives its name from the Rev. Humphrey Hunter, a minister at Steele Creek and Unity Presbyterian Churches and a local Revolutionary War hero.
